MessageXchange, Australia’s leading eInvoicing provider, has been reappointed by NSW Treasury to deliver whole-of-government Peppol eInvoicing services following a competitive tender.

Originally appointed in 2020 by the NSW Department of Customer Service, MessageXchange became the state’s first Peppol eInvoicing solution provider. Since then, NSW has led the way in eInvoicing adoption, enabling government agencies to seamlessly receive Peppol eInvoices. With NSW Treasury now taking over the portfolio, the review reaffirmed MessageXchange as the preferred partner to support the state’s continued eInvoicing growth.

Peppol eInvoicing is a secure and standardised way for businesses to exchange invoices electronically, directly between software systems. It eliminates PDFs, emails or paper invoices, reducing manual handling, improving security and accuracy, and cutting processing costs. Most small and medium businesses can already send eInvoices, with the largest accounting software providers in Australia and New Zealand now offering eInvoicing capabilities as part of their products.

Governments across Australia and New Zealand are encouraging the use of eInvoicing, offering incentives for small businesses to adopt eInvoicing. It’s estimated that widespread eInvoicing adoption could deliver over $28 billion in economic benefits to the Australian economy over the next 10 years1.

John Delaney, managing director, MessageXchange, said, “MessageXchange is proud to continue its partnership with the NSW Government,” said. “Together we’re making invoicing faster, safer and more cost-effective for suppliers and agencies. This reappointment reflects the strength of our technology, our expertise, and the benefits already delivered to NSW.”

MessageXchange has extensive experience delivering eInvoicing across government and enterprise. The company is also the selected eInvoicing Access Point provider for the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), New Zealand’s Inland Revenue and other state governments.

With more than 20 years’ experience helping businesses and government automate data exchange, MessageXchange continues to support organisations across government, retail, supply chain, payments and superannuation with secure and scalable solutions.
